SkinFood Skincare | Review

Another great quality skincare line that is affordable! I just finished my products from this skincare line and overall, it’s pretty great. I wanted to finish the products before I wrote a full reviews because it’s only fair! Over all, the products (other than the masks) lasted me two months, applying twice a day – so for the price and quantity, it’s affordable.  I was able to get these products when there was a sale online – buy one get one 50% off on Ulta!

In this review I’m including my every day skincare along with masks I’ve used numerous times. I’m excited to compare these products to my current new skincare routine with Derma E.

These products are cruelty free and have natural ingredients!

Please keep in mind, I have normal to dry skin so these products may not work for you the same way if your skin is different!

SkinFood Rice Brightening Scrub Foam $14

This product intrigued me because it’s a brightening foam and one ingredient listed is odae rice water. What is that??

According to Ulta:

“The Odae rice water SKINFOOD uses includes the bran. Rice bran is the thin film that is produced during the milling process. It contains proteins, vitamins, and minerals that brighten and nourish your skin to make it radiant. Rice is a rich source of Vitamin E, an antioxidant that fights aging and free radical damage, and linoleic acids. Linoleic acid is in the fatty acid family, which is essential for healthy skin. It has anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties, softening skin and making it supple. It also provides healing support to skin cell regeneration, making it a potent acne-fighter.”

This product also contains blueberry fruit extract, lentil fruit extract, yogurt extract, and aloe leaf water.

The odae rice ingredient is really interesting and definitely got me excited enough to buy it. Not only is this a cleanser, but it’s an exfoliator as well; two in one. It’s gentle on the skin as the consistency is a super fine scrub texture. I love cleansers that foam so I was happy this does.

I don’t think it has much of a brightening effect as I have other products that brighten my face a lot better. It does a good job of cleansing while keeping my skin moisturized; some cleansers can cleanse well but do make my skin dry.

Will I repurchase this in the future?: Probably not as there are better cleansers out there IMO!

SkinFood Peach Sake Pore Serum $16 for 1.5 oz.

I did enjoy this product as it’s a thin, lightweight consistency and a little goes a long way. It also dries quickly and doesn’t make my skin greasy. The peach scent is not overwhelming, it’s pretty subtle. It did help my two acne scars fade slightly, but not completely. Then again, I only used it for two months.

As for packaging, the serum and moisturizer are the same. It’s very heavy, glass like package and feels like it could be expensive. I wouldn’t have minded if the packaging was cheaper which could have made the price cheaper as well. I’m not the biggest fan of nice packaging; as long as the product does what it’s supposed to do. I do like the pump as it doesn’t spill out too much product; it’s usually just enough.

It definitely has a brightening effect as peaches contain a lot of vitamin C, which is what I tend to gravitate towards.

According to Ulta:

“Peaches contain significant vitamins, minerals, and other factors, which promote healthy skin. Peaches are rich in vitamin A and vitamin C, which are antioxidants that help reduce free radical damage and possess anti-aging benefits. Naturally occurring acid in the skin helps prevent acne and repair acne scars. The organic acid found in peaches can boost skin acid’s rejuvenating effects. Finally, pectin, a type of fiber, is found in the skin of peaches and helps to tone and firm skin.”

Will I repurchase this in the future?: I did like it, and might repurchase in the future!

SkinFood Peach Sake Emulsion $15

Ever since purchasing this moisturizer I have not had any dry patches, which is rare for me! I have a tendency to wake up with dryness under my eyes and around my nose, and I didn’t have that once while using this.

When thinking about the packaging, I do wish it had a pump or just came out of the bottle easier. I do have a tendency to get it all over which can be a waste.

It’s a lightweight, thin consistency like the serum – maybe a little thicker. When applying, it absorbs quickly and easily into the skin. The ingredients in this are similar to the serum as it is enriched with the benefits of peaches. The scent is also similar!

Will I repurchase this in the future?: Definitely!

SkinFood Egg White Pore Mask $10.50

This is a white, thick mask which dries onto the skin. It’s not the cleanest mask to use but the benefits are great.

According to Ulta:

“Albumen, commonly known as egg white, is one of nature’s highest quality protein sources. It’s also packed with niacin (Vitamin B3), riboflavin (Vitamin B2), selenium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and a complete amino acid profile. Four ways albumen works in our Egg White Pore line: Regulates excessive sebum Eliminates pore-clogging impurities Tightens pores and minimizes their appearance Eradicates skin bacteria The high level of protein in albumen, along with its natural low-moisture state, makes it a very effective moisturizing and tightening agent. Albumen is also a natural anti-inflammatory. All of these virtues make egg white egg-cellent for exfoliating, refining pores, and controlling excess oil, as well as anti-aging effects!”

I was intrigued by the fact this has egg whites in it! I know there are a few masks out there with egg whites as an ingredient as it is supposedly good for the skin. The great thing about the mask is that a little goes a long way. I still have a lot left and have used it over 10 times! I do like this mask as it cleanses my skin well and has made my pores less noticeable. My skin is really soft after using it too!

Will I repurchase this in the future?: Yes!

SkinFood FreshMade Lemon Mask $13

The lemon mask has a clean, lemon scent (duh) which I love. It’s really refreshing and cooling on the face. The consistency is more of a thin gel-like, clear texture and is somewhat sticky. When on the face, it dries down sticky, but is easy to wash off and doesn’t make a mess like a lot of masks do.

As for leaving a brightening effect, I wasn’t that impressed with it. I have other masks that do a better job for brightening.

Will I repurchase this in the future?: No
